Double Gloucester voted ‘The Champion UK Cheese’
One of the most prestigious cheese awards, ‘The Champion UK Cheese’ has been won by Arla Foods for its Taw Valley Creamery Double Gloucester.
It was awarded at the Nantwich International Cheese Show, the biggest cheese event of its kind in the world. More than 200 judges spent their time judging a total of 5,000 cheeses from across the globe.
Over half of the entries were from UK processors and of those, the judges chose the Taw Valley Creamery Double Gloucester as the UK Champion.
The award was presented to cheese graders from Taw Valley Creamery Hayley Collins and Colin Ewen.
Arla cheeses won five trophies, including best Stilton and English Cheese and over 30 Arla cheeses received gold, silver or bronze medals.
Cheeses from Arla’s five creameries have so far won a staggering 169 awards this year during the cheese awards season at events such as The Royal Highland Show, Great Yorkshire Show and Devon Country Show.
